Life in Alaska :: Photo Gallery (November)

by Kim

The snow has finally come and it’s here to stay for a while. I’m happy that I can enjoy this view outside my bedroom window.

Snowy view from my window - Anchorage, Alaska

And though it may not technically be winter, as far as I’m concerned it is. Look at that gauge!

Minus 10 Degrees in Anchorage, Alaska

I honestly can’t remember the last time it was this cold. But I’m happy to report that I’ve mastered the art of layering. Despite the fact that with all these layers piled upon each other I’m reminded of being a 5-year old puff ball who can barely bend her joints let alone walk normally, I am at least kinda not cold. At -10 I guess that’s an okay thing to be. Lucky we don’t live in Fairbanks, though. My friend said it was something like -35 there the other day. I hear this and I wonder to myself why people would willingly choose to subject themselves to that kind of cold. A curious thing.

So throughout these cold days I’ve confirmed quite without a doubt that I’m a big baby when it comes to cold weather. Which explains why this last month I stayed tucked inside and didn’t go venturing very far for photos and have essentially none to share. I’d like to say I’ll toughen up a bit in the coming months, but in reality that probably won’t happen and I’ll just have to wait until it gets “warm” and heads at least into the teens or 20s before I pop outside for any length of time. Until then I may have to make do with photos shot solely from the warmth of my car.

Happy Holidays to You

I want to wish you the most joyous, fun-filled and love-filled holiday season. However and with whomever you celebrate, I hope it’s memorable and wonderful in every way. :)
