After coming up Maloja Pass from the west, we passed through St. Moritz, Switzerland. I just love the color of Lake St. Moritz, and it’s good to see people making use of it.
Entering the town by car.
Here’s a view of some houses & condos along the hillside. We walked around the main town center, but it didn’t seem to have much personality. Just a bunch of high-end chains.
But as we were leaving town, I spotted this amusing sign. I guess if you’re the type to put things off, these people are trying to tell you something.
To Go or No
While I can’t really say that I liked it, I can’t really say that I didn’t, either. What it really comes down to is we didn’t have enough time to spend there to give it a proper review.
The setting was to me a little disappointing. I’d kind of imagined a little town nestled more snugly within deep mountain valleys. But St. Moritz sits in a valley that just seems so wide, and the mountains just didn’t seem all that tall. But my silly misconceptions about the place really shouldn’t have any bearing so I’ll leave you to explore for yourself and let me know what you think. :)
Map
Here’s a map of St. Moritz (the 3rd green marker from the left) and also the entire driving route we took from Lake Como to the Dolomites. While we covered only about 200 miles, we ended up spending most of the day driving (about 6 hours, not including stops), so that’s why we didn’t have much time to explore St. Moritz.
Wishing you happy & safe travels!
